Trophy Wine Show is with Investec and Wine Wizard.

John Skotnes was an artist, craftsman and jeweller, whose oeuvre included sculptures commissioned for public places as well as finely wrought jewellery in silver and gold. This unique combination of skills, together with a remarkable aesthetic vision, made him the ideal person to approach in 2002 to design the trophies for the Trophy Wine Show. When the Trophy Spirits Show was launched in 2019 there was no doubt about who should be commissioned to produce the trophies. His vision was integral to the image of the competitions. He remained involved and every year modelled, restored and arranged the engraving of the winners’ names ahead of the announcements of the shows’ resultsJohn died tragically on 28th December. His death is a great loss – to his family, to his vast circle of friends, and to the creative community of South Africa. John Skotnes was an artist, craftsman and jeweller, whose oeuvre included sculptures commissioned for public places as well as finely wrought jewellery in silver and gold. “It was a privilege to judge the Cap Classique class—I never say no to bubbly”. This year, with approximately 38 entries, Cap Classique performed remarkably well.
While we often compare ourselves to Champagne, we shouldn’t.
